Unboxing the new iPhone 14- A review of our newly purchased iPhone 14.

A decade ago (2012), my wife owned an iPhone 5 and until now we still use it but with some limitations of course because of the new technology and apps available. On 2018, she upgraded to iPhone 8 and she still has the unit until today which she actively uses for all her personal and business intentions. Today, 2022, we plan to switch to the new iPhone and have an experience on the newest flagship model.

In the United Kingdom, the preorders were available on 09 Sep 2022 which we did. We only intend to have the iPhone 14 and not the Pro one as our needs are mainly for personal and business. With 4 years of usage of the iPhone 8 we can say that we are happy with it except for its battery life. The operation of the phone is smooth, the display is optimized, the apps are working in sync with the phone and the browsing has been very interactive. After 3 years of using it, the battery lost its major power when the efficiency of the batter was below 80 percent prompting us to buy a new battery and have it installed by a technician.

With the release of the new iPhone 14, we are looking forward that they will pay attention to the demand of the crowd to improve its battery. We are not impressed with Apple’s marketing strategy to create and release new models almost every year to meet the demands of the fast changing clients but they forgot what Steve Job has done for the company- to make the brand durable and reliable. We felt that the iPhone series is just a show off of the new trend without relying to the quality. It FORCES the users to purchase new models because the battery is not sustainable. If we can’t find this feature in the new iPhone, it might be our last purchase and we might switch to the other tech giant to try their new technology- the Chinese counterpart Xiaomi.

We have preordered the iPhone 14 in the Apple website on 09 Sep 2022 at 1300H as that is the earliest date we can preorder it and it will be sent to our home on 16 Sep 2022. Here are the new specs of the iPhone 14 that we will be looking at on our review.

There you are folks, the new iPhone 14 specs and what to expect. Our ordered unit is Midnight with 256GB storage. You may visit the site of Apple so you can see the full details of the specs. The downside of our order is that Apple has provided the mobile phone and the lightning cord but no adapter to it. This is truly discouraging as our old iPhone 8 was 4 years old and we have to reuse its adapter, we might be buying a new adapter so to match the fast charging capability of this new phone. Based on their statement on the website when we preordered it, the reason behind not including the adapter is that they promote environmental purpose about recycling which we do not appreciate. What about people having old iPhones that wanted to switch to the latest model? We do not bite their excuse and though very minimal, for us its a big thumbs down purchasing an almost GBP 1,000 phone without an adapter in it.
