Sauteed seafood spinach with fried fish- A unique SIMPLE and EASY dish that you will surely love!

We love to introduce this self composed dish that has a theme of seafoods and vegetables. In the Philippines, we consider seafood as our best dish. We missed the taste of it and we have recreated using simple ingredients we found in ASDA store in the UK. This is a healthy dish that boosts your zinc, immune system and daily fiber. Everyone can try this dish and is very easy to prepare.

This dish is mainly prepared using the sautee method adding seasoning gradually to taste. A side dish of fried fish makes this dish more appetizing and delicious. Here are the ingredients and step by step instructions.

Ingredients:

  • Mixed seafoods (what we have available in our grocery store is composed of shrimp, mussel, crab sticks)
  • Fish (2 pieces, scaled/cleaned)
  • Spinach leaves (1 big pack)
  • Garlic (about 5-6 cloves, depending on your preference)
  • Onion (1 piece)
  • Tomato (1 piece)
  • Bell pepper/Capsicum (1 piece)
  • Salt, pepper – to taste, depending on your preference
  • Fish Sauce- about 3-4 tsp
  • Crab paste- 1-2 tsp

Procedure:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. If you will immediately cook the mixed seafood and fish, there is no need to defrost. If you store them in the freezer, it needs to be defrosted for about an hour.
  3. Slice the garlic and onion into small pieces. Chop the tomato into small pieces, we prefer to remove the seeds. Chop the bell pepper into small cubes.
  4. Heat the oil. Toss the garlic until it turns golden brown, follow it with the onion. Toss the tomatoes, mix regularly until the tomato produces its own juices. Add the mixed seafood and sautee all ingredients. You may add salt and pepper to taste, this should take about 2-3 minutes of good mixing.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of water, this will serve as your mini soup and will help cook the spinach later on.
  6. Add the bell pepper and mix. You may add the fish sauce here and the crab paste.
  7. Add the spinach and give it a good mix.
  8. Switch off the stove and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes. The whole cooking time should be about 7-8 minutes.
  9. For the fish, once defrosted, lather a good amount of salt and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then fry in oil, the frying time should be about 7-8 minutes once it turn golden brown.

Serves: 3-4 persons

Preparation time + cooking time duration: Approximately 15 minutes
